Psalms 91:13, "You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot."Lion and Cobra, young lion and serpent are considered the most deadly creatures on the planet earth. If you are in front of a lion or Cobra, know for sure that you are not coming back alive. There is no escape if you happen to come across them on their way. But the Psalmist says in the above verse that God will not only protect you from these deadly creatures but also He will make you to trample them underfoot. In other words, no evil power could have any power over you, neither could it harm you nor kill you. In the next verses it says that, "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.(Psalms 91:14)Yes, my friend, if you have known Him, you are not an ordinary person but you are a child of the Most High God who created the whole universe. His is the power and glory. His is the gold and silver mines. His is the diamonds and precious jewels. He is the master over everything. Then whom should you fear? Moreover God promises to give you power over the deadliest enemies who could completely destroy your life.Psalmist says in Psalms 27:1-3, "The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident." Why fear when Jesus is with us and protecting us? If Jesus is with us, we do not need to be afraid of anything because He will take care of everything. When Moses was dead and when Joshua had to take the responsibility of leading the Israelites to the Promised Land, he was afraid. But God said to him, (Joshua 1:7-8), "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."God wants us to live a fearless life, a life full of peace, joy, prosperous, a successful and blessed life. All these blessings are available exclusively for those who became children of God, for those who are washed by the precious blood of Jesus. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord, this is the day for you to come to Him. Repent from your sins and start walking with God. And all these blessings will come upon you.
Psa 1:1-3, "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."The first Psalm talks how a person could be blessed. It describes about his unique life, a life that is different from others. He does not act according to the evil counsel of the ungodly. Also he does not live as the worldly people do. But he delights in the Law of God and meditates on God's word day and night. This man is different from others. He walks in the ways of God. And because he walks in the ways of God, Bible says that, "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." Water is very much essential for a tree to bring forth fruit. Once when my dad got transferred to another place and when we reached our new home, we found some lime trees in the yard. When the flowering season came and fruit started to grow, we were excited. But our excitement was short lived. We realized that most of the fruits looked pale, shrunk and they withered away before reaching to maturity. Then my dad started giving lots of water and adding fertilizer. In the next year we got a big crop. Lack of water made those fruits to die before reaching to full ripeness. But plenty of water helped those plants to thrive and bring lots of fruit.Psalmist compares the life of a person who walks in the ways of God to a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruits in due season and whose leaf does not wither. As the tree prospers, there is a prosperous life for that person. Whatever he does prospers. There is no gray moment for a person who walks in the ways of God.That's the promise of God for His children - A blessed life!, not only in this world but also in the world to come.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Feb. 2012
