I wish all the readers of "In Search of Peace magazine" a very happy and blessed thanks giving day and happy holidays. Here is a special message for thanksgiving day. Bible says in Col 3:15 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." All of the Psalms are filled with praises and thanks to God. But how many times we fail to be thankful to God. It is very easy to give thanks to God when everything goes well, but it is real tough when everything goes wrong. But in the Bible we can see in the life of Habakkuk that he rejoiced in the midst of problems and troubles and glorified God. He says in Hab 3:17-19 "Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls; Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments." But in contrast we see that when problems came into the lives of the Israelites they murmured against God. The Bible says in Num 16:41, "On the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, 'You have killed the people of the LORD.' Because of murmuring most of them were distroyed by the almighty God." Celebrating thanksgiving day has its significance, but what do we think about our attitudes towards God? Are we thankful to God everytime as Habakkuk was and get the blessings of God, or do we murmur against God and take the wrath of God? If we look to Jesus in all our situations He will help us to rejoice in the midst of problems, tears and distress and he will give us strength to glorify God in the hardest walk of our life.May God bless you!!
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Feb. 2012
