Matthew 15:8, "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me." We see many who do the prescribed rituals perfectly and think that they are very holy. But can these rituals give us assurance of heaven? If we read the life of Cain in Genesis 4th chapter, we see how Cain and his brother Abel both brought offerings before God. God respected Abel and his offering, but He rejected Cain's offering and Cain too. But instead of repenting from his sins Cain became very angry. And we see in Genesis 4:8, "Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him." Cain killed Abel and acted as is if he did not know anything. We see the same thing in this world - injustice. Those who have might or power they rule over the innocent by hook or crook and many of them do not want to accept their mistakes. They want to cover up all their ugly acts with their power and authority. When Cain murdered his brother he totally forgot that there is a God who can do justice. He might have thought, "oh, I have rooted out the problem completely. I have finished it beautifully." But he forgot that God is in control. He totally forgot that there is a God who is just and does justice for the innocent. If we read further we see that God called Cain and said, Genesis 4:9, "Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" Look at that, how intelligent and cunning was Cain's reply to God. Many a times we want to be over smart. After replying he might have felt very proud thinking, "oh, I cheated God... no one knows what I did." Many think the same way and feel very proud cheating God. But they totally forget that God is all-knowing all-powerful. Listen to what God said to him in, Genesis 4:10, And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground." Bible says that Abel's blood cried out for justice and mercy and it reached the ears of God. When you do injustice do not think that there is no God who can hear. There is a God who rules with justice and who can hear the cry of the innocent. The Bible says in Psalms 18:6, "In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears." My dear friend, are you facing injustice? Do you think that there is no one who can hear your cry? I want to tell you that there is a God who cares for you and His ears are always there to listen to your cry. Just look to Him. Man may not help you but Jesus can. The same God who heard the cry of Abel can hear your cry and do justice. And we see in Genesis 4:12 that God cursed Cain. Then he realized, "oh, what I did." And He repented to God as we see in Genesis 4:13, And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear!" If you are in sin repent, if you do injustice repent and ask the forgiveness of God and He will forgive you. Bible says in Acts 3:19, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."If you have any prayer request please feel free to send it to us. Jesus said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." There is power in the word of God. That's why Jesus said, "he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." How can a person get this everlasting life and escape judgment? How can a person pass from death to life? In the Old Testament, Bible says that word has life and we read in Deu 32:46 -47, "and He said to them: "Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe; all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess." Bible says in Romans 10:17, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So when a person hears the word of God, faith comes in his/her heart. And by believe on this word and Jesus Christ and accepting Him as personal Lord and Savior a person gets everlasting life. He/she would not face death nor judgment. Why? Because we all are dead in sin and we need a savior who can save us from our sins. Because of our sinful and corrupt nature it is not possible that we can live a holy life or that we may get rid of our sins by our own effort. But it is possible because of Jesus. He came in this world to rescue us from our sins and for that He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross. He died for us so that we may live forever and forever. Yes, this life He wants to give you. He wants to give you eternal life. Once I heard a true story. In a country there was a cruel king and he persecuted many; those who loved Jesus and walked in His ways. The king took them to a mountain top and when the believers were being beheaded, the king was surprised to see that they were not afraid but they were smiling. He thought how could it be possible that at this time of trouble they are smiling? He could not believe his own eyes and then surprisingly God opened his spiritual eyes. He could see the souls of the persons who were beheaded coming out one by one from their bodies. In mid air Jesus was standing with out-stretched arms and Jesus embraced them and said, "My good and faithful servant enter into my joy." When the king saw this he broke down and knelt before God and got saved that moment. Yes, death is not the end for those who believe on Jesus but it is a beginning of a blessed life with Jesus.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Feb. 2012
